Before You Book

Is the strategy call really free?

Yes, completely. Mike's goal for the first call is to understand your situation and provide genuine value — not to close a deal. If there's a fit and you want to work together, that conversation happens naturally. There's no pressure and no sales script.

I've never used my VA loan. Where do I even start?

Start with the strategy call. Mike will explain how the VA loan works, what you qualify for based on your rank and BAH, and which strategy (first home, house hack, multi-unit) makes the most sense for your situation. You don't need to have done anything beforehand — just show up ready to learn.

I already own a home with a VA loan. Can I use it again?

Yes — and this is one of Mike's specialties. If you've paid down enough equity, your entitlement can be restored. Or if you have remaining bonus entitlement, you may be able to use the VA loan simultaneously on a second property. The path depends on your specific entitlement situation, which Mike will review with you.

Can I actually buy a duplex or triplex with a VA loan?

Absolutely. The VA loan program allows the purchase of 1–4 unit residential properties, as long as you occupy one unit as your primary residence. This is the core of the house hacking strategy — your tenants in the other units pay your mortgage, often in full. Mike will show you what's available in your target market and how to structure the purchase.

Do I need to be pre-approved before booking a call?

No — in fact, Mike often helps clients understand what pre-approval path to take, and which lenders actually understand VA loans for multi-unit properties (most don't). Come as you are. The strategy call is where you figure out your plan, not where you prove you already have one.

I'm based in California but not San Diego. Can Mike still help?

Yes. Mike is licensed across California and has worked with buyers at multiple bases statewide. San Diego is his primary market, but the VA loan strategy principles apply everywhere in the state — and he can connect you with trusted local resources in other California markets.
